Multi-national businesses are suffering under a centralised IT model

 In Australia

Why multi-national businesses are suffering under a centralised IT model and how to improve this can be found in this article from industry analysts McKinsey.

It’s great to have renowned experts like McKinsey highlight the scenarios that we have seen played-out over the last few years, as countries have lost local differentiation when moving to a global standard offering.

The flow-on effect has been the need to introduce additional processes or work-arounds, through to reduced sales and productivity.

The other outcomes we have seen with centralised systems is that the initial cost savings soon disappear, as customisations and additional procedures are required to meet local regulation, as well as local cultural and procedural differences not being catered for through a centralised system.
