Weekly supermarket bills will soon get a whole lot cheaper with German powerhouse Kaufland set to spark an all-out price war.
The low-cost super chain has started a high-level recruitment drive in Australia as it prepares to shake up the local retail landscape – taking on Coles, Woolworths and Aldi along with discount retailers, such as Kmart, JB Hi Fi and Harvey Norman.
Wherever the German hypermarket has launched, a price war has followed.
Neil Rechlin, from Next Gen, said Kaufland is not like any other player.
“Kaufland, clearly, are going to be pushing prices down very hard,” he told 9NEWS.
“The food range that they’re going to offer is clearly going to compete with Woolworths and Coles but at Aldi prices.” msn – Read more…
