‘Nowhere near enough time’: Woolworths clinches secret land deal
The state government has been accused of ramming through the sale of prime public land to Woolworths.
The NSW government announced on Tuesday that it would enter into confidential and exclusive commercial negotiations to sell Woolworths prime public land on the Port Macquarie foreshore.
It comes five years after the supermarket giant first made plans for the spot and after a public bidding process the local council says was kept short to discourage competitors.
"They’ve done everything they can to keep the community at arm’s length and get the outcome they wanted in the first place, which is a direct sale to Woolies," said the Mayor of Port Macquarie Hastings Council, Peter Besseling. Sydney Morning Herald – Read more…
