Coca-Cola Amatil’s profits crunched in supermarkets battle

Coca-Cola Amatil chief executive Alison Watkins has warned that profits this year will be “materially below” those in 2013 as soft drink, juice and bottled water prices come under pressure and consumer demand remains subdued.
Coca-Cola Amatil is facing its second consecutive year of lower earnings as weaker sales in convenience stores and petrol stations and pricing pressure in supermarkets crunch margins in its earnings engine room, the Australian beverages business.
CCA’s net profit fell 15.6 per cent to $182.3 million in the six months ended June 30, from $215.9 million in the year-earlier period, the company said on Wednesday.  Sydney Morning Herald – Read more…
