Fair Work audit highlights infringements against PAs

Results from the Fair Work Ombudsman’s (FWO) audit of 523 pharmacies across Australia recovered more than $280,000 for 599 employees, with almost half of that amount coming from breaches relating to one pharmacy chain owner in NSW.

The audit found that pharmacy assistants were the most likely group of pharmacy employees to contact the FWO with complaints about potential breaches of the Pharmacy Industry Award (PIA) 2010, and they had a contravention rate of 61{845d44a2f09c0018d802e19e78941a85dc2180e4ed7410cee0b34e8cb134ecea}.

The FWO’s National Pharmacy Campaign 2012/13 final report, revealed that 196 complaints were made about the sector between 1 July 2010 and 30 September 2012, with 75{845d44a2f09c0018d802e19e78941a85dc2180e4ed7410cee0b34e8cb134ecea} of those coming from female pharmacy employees.
