Guild to battle supermarkets in pharmacy war

Australia’s supermarket giants will not rest until they are allowed to own community pharmacies, David Quilty, Pharmacy Guild of Australia executive director believes.

In the Guild’s Forefront newsletter, Mr Quilty warned pharmacists that the current ownership rules were “not a fail-safe” in the fight to keep the profession out of the hands of Woolworths and Coles.

Mr Quilty’s comments follow Woolworth’s application to IP Australia, to trademark ‘Pharmacy-in-Supermarket’, as reported by Pharmacy News.
