Woolies adds 10k new jobs in growth spree

Woolworths chief executive Grant O’Brien has fired off a barrage of new intiatives and measures to boost growth and flagged the creation of 10,000 new jobs.

At the retailer’s strategy day, Mr O’Brien said the company had commenced a wholesale review of its supermarkets business to be led by its new head of supermarkets and petrol, Tjeerd Jegen, which if successful would add $2.5 billion a year in incremental sales for the group.
