Free delivery, cheaper groceries: Coles trials $10-a-month loyalty club

 In Australia, Coles

Coles is taking an unexpected leaf out of e-commerce giant Amazon’s book by introducing a premium subscription tier to its flybuys loyalty scheme that gives members discounted groceries, free home delivery, and access to online video streaming.
The supermarket is quietly rolling out the subscription service, called “flybuys max”, which will cost $10 a month or $99 a year and entitles members to a 5 per cent discount on all fresh produce, including meat, at Coles supermarkets.
Members can opt to instead earn 10 flybuys points for every dollar spent on fresh food at Coles, compared to the normal rate of 1 point per dollar, and will earn points at the same rate at Coles Express service stations, including on up to 250 litres of fuel a week.
The subscription includes free home delivery on all Coles online orders over $50.
And branching out of its core business, Coles’ subscription service also gives access to unlimited video streaming on the website MuviNow, discounted cinema and theme park tickets, and discounts on bookings made through the company’s flybuys travel portal.  Sydney Morning Herald – Read more…
