Masters Fire Sale Doubles Record Daily Sales, with Some Complaints About Price
Masters Home Improvement’s fire sale – which on Sunday broke company records to reach a high of nearly double any other day’s sales – has been marred by consumer complaints of discounts that don’t live up to the promised bargains.
A Victorian buyer, going by the pseudonym of Sam, claimed, for instance, that the price of a sink mixer tap had been increased and not discounted when he visited a store on Sunday.
This claim prompted a full-scale investigation by Masters’ liquidator.
Sam posted an image, which revealed a lower price hidden underneath a higher "sale" price. To confuse the issue, the price sign had been partly ripped obscuring the dollar sign – suggesting it could have been either $79 originally or $179. Sydney Morning Herald – Read more…
