Can FMCG Return to Glory Days, Can WW Bounce Back?
Last week, I attended a luncheon where the speaker was Roger Corbett, who might be fast becoming a living legend of Australian FMCG retailing.
The elephant in the room, and in the FMCG industry generally, partially addressed, was poignant, and evident, when it came to question time.
There was bemoaning that the combative & confrontational disposition between FMCG grocery retailer and supplier is destroying suppliers. I believe that Roger subtly acknowledged that this combative & confrontational disposition between retailer and supplier was ALSO undermining to retailers’ business (albeit in a different way), too; and that retailers should change.
