Coles, Woolworths, Aldi Price War Gets Personal with Cut-Price Tissues and Toothpaste
Less than a week after Woolworths claimed it was cheaper than Coles, the Wesfarmers-owned chain has launched its latest salvo in the supermarket price war – cut-price rice, tissues and toothpaste.
Coles has discounted three of its biggest-selling grocery brands, Kleenex, Sunrice and Colgate, shifting the price war back into the dry groceries aisles and taking the focus off fresh food favourite chicken.
Both Coles and Woolworths cut the price of roast chicken in January, as the major supermarkets go head-to-head to win market share and arrest the flow of shoppers to discount alternative Aldi. The Age – Read more…
