Coles has created a world of pain for Woolworths – and this chart proves it

No mercy. That’s the message to Woolworths from its great rival Wesfarmers, which reported a bumper profit on Thursday led by its retail powerhouses Coles and Bunnings.
While Woolworths hunts for a successor to retiring chief executive Grant O’Brien, and struggles to get its key grocery business back in top gear, Coles is the key factor leading Wesfarmers retail divisions higher.
Same-store sales in Wesfarmers food and liquor business surged 3.9 per cent in the 2015 financial year and Coles is even pushing into Woolies’ territory of fresh food, where its sales are growing at double digit rates.  Sydney Morning Herald – Read more…
