Aussie Farmers Direct hit by more competitors, but still confident of growth

When Aussie Farmers Direct launched 10 years ago this month, it could not have been into a more favourable environment.
The online retailer was one of the first to offer fresh food home delivery and customers were drawn to its promise of paying fair prices to Australian farmers enduring a devastating drought.
A decade later the company has grown to cover every mainland capital city, but has also lost some of the natural advantages it first enjoyed.
But chief executive Keith Louie, who joined in November after driving a massive expansion in online sales at Wesfarmers-owned grocery giant Coles, is confident the company can sustain its growth by remaining agile and innovative and by offering a genuine farmer-friendly offering as an alternative to the big two supermarkets.  Sydney Morning Herald – Read more…
