Former Woolworths chairman John Dahlsen attacks Bunnings over competition
Former Woolworths chairman John Dahlsen has backed small business calls for stronger competition laws, saying independent hardware retailers are "failing" at a rapid rate because they cannot compete against Bunnings.
Mr Dahlsen, who owns Australia’s largest independent hardware merchant, JC Dahlsen, has accused Bunnings of overstating the size of the home improvement market to avoid scrutiny from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
"Bunnings’ market share is huge, far higher than that enjoyed by Coles and Woolworths in supermarkets – it is one of the highest retail concentrations we have in Australia," Mr Dahlsen told Fairfax Media. Sydney Morning Herald – Read more…
