Woolworths vs Woolworths: David Jones’ new owner to overhaul food business

Supermarket chains Woolworths and Coles could soon be facing competition from an unlikely source – the South African owner of upmarket department store chain David Jones.
Woolworths Holdings, which outlaid $2.2 billion last year to buy David Jones and to take full control of fashion group Country Road, has appointed a general manager of foods, Pieter de Wet, to overhaul David Jones’ food business.
It is understood that Mr de Wet, who is due to arrive in Australia later this year, will report to Woolworths SA chief executive Ian Moir, rather than David Jones chief executive Iain Nairn.  Sydney Morning Herald – Read more…
