Woolies lashes out over cheap fuel court action
Woolworths boss Grant O’Brien says the supermarket giant hasn’t broken fuel shopper docket rules and will continue to offer deals that give drivers an 8 cent per litre discount at the pump.
Mr O’Brien also declared Woolworths was not the type of company that would ”deliberately and intentionally” breach undertakings it made to the regulator last year. He also questioned why the competition watchdog had clamped down on fuel discounts offered by Woolworths and Coles in response to fears it was hurting smaller independent retailers, given independent petrol stations had actually grown their market share in 2013.
