Inspectors identify truck breaches at Coles distribution centre

Coles could be served with improvement notices by the state’s road authorities after inspectors found multiple safety breaches at one of the supermarket chain’s south-west Sydney distribution centres on Wednesday.
Coles, which has been heavily criticised by the trucking union for the pressure it puts on drivers, has been told to improve the way it loads vehicles and manages driver fatigue.
Inspectors from a joint taskforce of the NSW Police and Roads and Maritime Services descended on the Smeaton Grange distribution centre at 5am on Wednesday after an investigation that had lasted several months, authorities said.  Sydney Morning Herald – Read more…
