Minnows slam supermarket giants’ fuel discounts

The nation’s independent grocers, liquor shop owners and small businesses have leapt on a fresh 40 cent per litre fuel discount being offered by the leading supermarket chains, Woolworths and Coles, demanding new Prime Minister Tony Abbott to immediately halt the offer on competition grounds.
A coalition of independents retailers, calling itself Independent Retailers of Australia, and made up of the Australian Retailers Association; Council of Small Business Organisations of Australia; Australian Newsagents’ Federation; and Master Grocers of Australia have placed large ads across major newspapers this morning complaining about the popular shopper docket scheme.  Sydney Morning Herald – Read more…
