Woolworths ‘listening tour’ seeks investors’ opinion on strategy
It’s the latest thing in shareholder engagement but it sounds like the title of a John Farnham series of outer Western suburb RSL club gigs. Brought to you by the board of Woolworths and presented by Citigroup, it’s "The Listening Tour".
The idea is that Woolworths’ long time investment advisor Citi? calls Woolworths major shareholders and listens to what they have to say about the company, its board, and its strategy.
No doubt Tony Osmond and his Citi troops will have had an earful.
The concept is quaint. Usually boards and management talk directly with major shareholders.
And usually the boards and management tell the shareholders about strategy rather than seek their opinion.
But there are some particularly unusual aspects to Woolworths right now.
