The signage could hardly be any bigger or more enticing: ”50 per cent off prescriptions”. But keep reading. In much smaller print at the bottom of the discount chemist’s window the writer has added the note: ”Government-subsidised prescriptions cannot be discounted.”
Unfortunately, that means there’s only a one-in-four chance your prescription will be one on which you’ll receive a discount.
Pharmacy Guild spokesman Greg Turnbull says about 200 million prescriptions are dispensed in Australia each year and about 75 per cent of these attract a government subsidy.  Sydney Morning Herald – Read more…
